CAC Downward Venting BCG Tested vs Standard BCG
CAC Downward Venting BCG Tested vs Standard BCG. Does the CAC downward venting bolt carrier group actually reduce gas blowback, or is it marketing hype? In their field test on Greyhive, the crew at AT3 Tactical ran it against a standard milspec carrier to answer one question: is it better, or just different? The premise behind every \"gas busting\" component is the same. When you run a suppressor — especially a high-back-pressure can — a chunk of that gas gets shoved back through the action and into your face. AT3 Tactical set out to see whether the CAC carrier's downward ports make a measurable difference, testing on a 300 Blackout rifle with a CMMG Zero suppressor. Their verdict up front: it makes a real, visible difference in how the gun feels — but whether it's worth the roughly $100 premium over a standard BCG is a call each builder has to make. Here's exactly what they found. Key Takeaways GoPro footage showed a visible \"wall\" where gas stopped instead of blowing straight back — the CAC carrier heavily vented gas down into the magazine. The CAC BCG weighs 11.7 oz — noticeably heavier than a standard carrier — and is built from Carpenter 158 steel with a phosphate finish and chrome-lined internals. The trade-off is dirty magazines: downward venting pushes carbon and gas into the mag, meaning more frequent cleaning over time. Extra features …
