But through all of this, there was an incredible positive that could have easily been missed. The push of the large percentage of Americans to go outdoors, the surge in new hunters, hunting and fishing license sales, as well as above average firearm and ammunition sales resulted in record growth in funding for local state wildlife agencies across the US. When you connect with the people on the ground – the new hunters, the habitat managers, the people in charge of wildlife in the various States, you will hear directly from them how important Pittmann-Robertson is to them. How important Pittmann-Robertson is to their agencies, for the people that work for them, the people that look after the land that we all take for granted when we go hunting or simply go walking our dog in the local wildlife management area. Unfortunately, never will we look back over this time period and tell ourselves it was great. However, to see some of the good that came from it, all we have to do is look out our windows at the deer in the fields, the birds in the trees, or the places we love to visit, camp, and walk our dogs in to realize there was a shining light through all this darkness. Pittmann-Robertson is a vital cog in the success of wildlife in this country, and we hope it is strengthened as state wildlife agencies need as much help as we can provide to keep our wildlife as resilient as possible.
